Spotlight on the Linen Cape

The Curragh Linen Cape

This week’s spotlight is on a very special garment, the Linen Cape: a spring and summer essential.

A single colour version of our cape knitted in the fantastic linen and cotton yarn was so well received that we won the NACTA Product of the year in January 2020 which we were delighted with!

The garment is knitted in a single colour, there are a huge range of beautiful yarns for you to choose from, around 45 in total! Something for everyone here, this one size fits most shapes and is transformed with each new colour. They are bold and bright, easy to wear and versatile with so many outfit choices. You will love them!

Looking back , the lovely Cape shape first appeared in the workshop in the spring of 2004. We found a very simple shape that draped well. As we loved the Tunic style so much ( and still do !) we took the moss stitch from the Tunic trim to give a textured trim to the new Cape,  featuring the Irish Linen at the edge and silk in the body.

The Linen Cape could be worn over almost any combination of tops, dresses and coats in a similar fashion to a pashmina. Or, team it up with one of our other pieces and take advantage of our complimentary colour palette. We knit these Capes in Linen & Cotton, which give a wonderful texture and lightweight finish.
