Size Guide

Welcome to Bill Baber Knitwear, we can’t wait to knit your piece for you!

The best way to find the correct size for you is to take a garment you love the fit of, lay it flat and measure it in the following ways:

Chest – Measure a straight line from armpit to armpit

Cuff to Cuff or Wingspan – Stretch the sleeves out and measure from cuff to cuff or the widest part of the garment

Length – Measure from adjacent to the neckline to the longest part of the garment

Bicep – Measure the largest part of the sleeve, this can be adjusted for a slim or loose fit

You can then compare these measurements to those on our product pages to see which size is most appropriate for you.

Please note the measurements on our product pages are recorded averages from garments we have knitted previously. Your item is likely to fall inside these range but we cannot be precise. Knitting is a little like baking, no two cakes are the same!

Many of our styles are designed to accommodate a broad range of body shapes and fit preferences including our Shawls and Capes. Due to popular demand we now offer an X-Large fit in our Shawls but the vast majority of people will fit a Regular size best. Get your tape measure out to check if you’re not sure!

The following table should give you a rough comparison into which Bill Baber Knitwear size is best for you. We always recommend measuring an existing garment that you own as in the video above and comparing it to the sizes on the product pages but this table should give you a starting point.

As a boutique business we knit each piece to order and we understand that you want it to be the best fit possible. Wool and linen are flexible types of yarn and as such there are variations in our average measurements. We try to include these on our product pages wherever possible but if you can’t find the one you are looking for or need additional help then please email us on info@billbaber.com

Please note that we also offer a no quibble return policy within 90 days of purchase/shipping date. As long as the piece has only been tried on at home a few times, is unwashed and still has the tags attached.

We also love to hear from you about how you get on with your piece! And if you get in touch with us you’ll be automatically entered into our my Bill Baber online voucher competition! This draw takes place every six months and all you have to do to enter is to email us at info@billbaber.com or tag us on Instagram or Facebook with your picture of your new Bill Baber piece or our Edinburgh Grassmarket Workshop.
