We have started to incorporate more of the beautiful wool from Donegal Yarns into our collection. All production is carried out at the traditional wool spinning mill in Kilnar, taking the wool from its raw state, right through to dying and spinning, leaving it with a beautiful multi- coloured tweed like fleck. The history of the mill itself can be traced back to the traditions of tweed effect yarn spinning.
As early as the 1800’s, there has been a tradition of spinning and weaving wool in South West Donegal. It was in the mid 1970’s that ‘Gaelterra’ built the new spinning mill to supply the local knitwear industry. The beautiful tweed effect yarns became popular internationally and the business was renamed Donegal Yarns in 2008.
We love the rich colour varieties they create in our fabric. The Donegal Wool is used in a wide variety of our pieces including our bestselling Marcia Jumpers, Skye Jackets and Mull Capes.
