Bill Baber recommends – visiting Edinburgh this Summer !

 

– There are so many interesting independent shops to explore in Edinburgh, Helen chooses ‘ Joe Cool’ as a favourite. Joe Cool has been running since 1978 and stocks a unique colourful collection of jewellery and accessories. ‘CHI‘ on the Bruntsfield high street is another shop Helen can’t resist popping into whenever she passes, the ladies clothing shop is run by a talented owner who selects beautiful high-end one off fashion garments. Other independent clothing shops in Edinburgh she loves include ‘Frontiers‘ and ‘Troon’.

Jack chose ‘Walker Slater‘ unsurprisingly as a favourite Edinburgh shop. ‘Walker Slater’ are a Tweed Jacket, Suit and Tailoring specialist with two gorgeous shops on Victoria Street in the Edinburgh Old Town.

 

 

 

– For eating out, anywhere along George the IV Bridge is a good central place to meet. Helen particularly likes Vittoria on the Bridge or Cafe Andaluz. Closer to us on Grassmarket, the locals flock to Mary’s Milk Bar for the finest ice-cream and Lovecrumbs for a strong coffee and cake on a rainy day. In fact, Bill Baber Knitwear celebrated it’s 40th anniversary with a huge chocolate cake made for us by Lovecrumbs! Jack chose The Witchery for the best dining experience in Edinburgh and The Caledonian for brunch.

– Jack likes to walk along the Salisbury Craigs, the dominating rock forms in Holyrood Park that glow in the evening light above Edinburgh. He also recommends walking around Carlton Hill and down to Leith Walk where there are lots of great pubs and shops. Helen’s favourite walk is along the water of Leith. A particularly lovely stretch is between Dean Village and Stockbridge, you can start at the Modern Art Gallery’s and work your way down. Another park which is often over looked by visitors is Blackford Hill, a leafy park with a brilliant view of the city.
