Spotlight on the Sally Dress

Rust Sally with an Oat Cape

A beautiful feminine tunic, the Sally Dress is one of our absolute favourites and most endearingly popular. We carry them in a range of sizes in store and some of our regulars have two or three each! If you have ever been into our shop or met us at a trade show, this style will surely be familiar to you. As a classic piece, it is at the heart of our collection and a great addition to your wardrobe.

The Sally is lightweight and simple, straight sided along the bust with a flare out to a wide skirt from the hip down to above the knee. Unless you are really tiny, you’ll most likely wear it as a tunic. Knitted in a lively vibrant linen and cotton mix, you’ll fall in love with them as soon as you get one one. All our linen colours are available to browse here.

A video Jack has made to talk you through the Sally can be found alongside many more he has made on Bill Baber Knitwear’s YouTube Channel – www.youtube.com/watch?v=w67pE_UmLtw.

A lovely shape that kicks out at the hem. This beautiful linen dress can be worn over jeans, trousers, or with heels and tights. Wear simply sleeveless with a nice big chunky necklace, or try it over a light sleeved top and you really do have a versatile little number. Elegant and contemporary, the Sally dress can be worn all year long and you’ll soon find it hard to cope without! We have a range of beautiful linen colours on our website here.

The Sally is one of the oldest designs we still carry. We used to pair the Sally with garments like the Salt Top, or more recently the Tango Tunic (available from the workshop). We still love to layer up garments in this way and the Sally has proved to be a wonderfully versatile garment for layering.

Because we use the Linen yarn in so many of our jackets and tops, there is an endless range of possible outfits to create with the same yarn colours running through them. We also love to create complementary tonal outfits, the brightness of the linen yarn is a lovely highlight in an outfit, or contrasting texture to a wool or silk blend.
