Our Photoshoot with Julian and Hanna

On the 28th of June, a beautiful midsummer day here in Scotland, Bill and Helen travelled down to the borders for a photoshoot with the very talented Julien Borghino of Rose & Juilen and model Hanna. It was a wonderful day and we are so excited to be sharing some of our newest designs with you.

As you may have seen from our social media posts, the last year has seen our shop become just a workshop for some time after being closed to the public for many months. In this time, Bill and Helen have used the break from trade shows, completing orders and serving customers to dedicate all their energy into making and designing again, their passion and absolute favourite thing to do! Some of these designs created over the last year have been photographed in this recent shoot and there are more to come for our trade selection.

These are boutique styles which as of yet, will only be sold in a small number at our Edinburgh workshop. We hope you enjoy this behind the scenes blog, please get in touch if you have any enquiries about items you would like to purchase, or questions about any different colours or sizes.

For this photoshoot, we visited the striking Kingsknowes Hotel, in the Scottish borders. Located near Melrose and Galashiels, it was built in 1869 for the local textile mill owner.  It has been converted into a very luxurious hotel while retaining many of it’s original features of the Victorian period with an elegant Edwardian Conservatory.

The Management and Staff made it so easy for us, Julien was able to go round the grounds and garden and set up his lighting rig anywhere he wanted to be. We ordered sandwiches and drinks (not a lot) from the bar for our lunchtime to eat on the garden terrace. From there you have a huge vista taking in the Abbotsford grounds over the Tweed and the Eildon Hills beyond. Then in the afternoon they brought us out tea to keep us going .

The Cora Cable

We want to give you a sneak peak of some of our new styles and the beautiful photographs Juilen took for us on this photoshoot.

Here we have the Cora Cable, a mid length dress knitted in luxurious Donegal Merino wool. The cable pattern feature gives the dress a classic elegance and mirrors the classic cable pattern we use in our Jura Capes and Islay Jackets.

The Broch Top

This chunky Merino Wool jumper is our thickest knit yet! One for the winter, this sweater will keep you cosy on even the coldest Edinburgh nights.

We love the weight to this classic piece, inspired by the shape of traditional fisherman’s jumpers, this is a timeless garment made with a gorgeous Irish Donegal Merino Wool. Available in a selection of colours, please enquire to find out how to order your own in time for this Autumn!

The Trellis Top

The Trellis is a lovely flattering top knitted in a combination of linen and wool yarns which together create a gorgeous fabric, similar to the Crail Top and Dress.

The shaping is beautiful on this garment, scooping low across the neckline, gathering in at the bottom of the three quarter length arms and along the hips with a band knitted in the linen yarn. We love the two tones of colour used in these garments and make them in a range of carefully selected colour ways.

The Fern Dress

This light and breathable summer linen dress has a lovely ribbed knitted pattern, similar to the one we use in our Jan Tops, which makes the Fern flexible to wear and amazingly comfortable. We love to wear these at the beach during the summer months or dress them up for a night out. Elegant simplicity make this garment a wonderful addition to your summer wardrobe.
