Welcome in Summer!

🌞 Beltane (the anglicised name for the Gaelic May Day festival) is historically observed throughout Ireland (Lá Bealtaine) and Scotland. It falls on the 1st of May, about halfway between the spring equinox and summer solstice.

The Beltane festival is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literature and is associated with many events in Irish Mythology. Similar festivals of this kind can be found all over the world, to encourage growth and protect livestock. As Pagan festivals are always so tightly connected to the changing seasons, anyone can see why the beginning of May, as Spring comes into fullness, would be a time for celebration and wishfull thinking for the long season ahead of planting and then harvesting crops.
