Made in Scotland: Pewtermill

We love a Made in Scotland business and this month we are profiling a small business that is over 50 years old and creates gorgeous pieces fashioned from pewter, right here in Scotland. Pewtermill offer a range of beautiful and traditional pewterware pieces including scarf rings, brooches, cufflinks, drinking quaichs, bangles and kilt buckles and pins. They have  range of designs in each which are inspired by the natural world and ancient Celtic patterns, Davie from Pewtermill joined us for a chat about their business. Can you tell us how your business got started? 

 

Where do you look for inspiration when you are designing new products?   

We look towards Nature, Scottish Culture and Scottish Heritage when it comes to designing new products.

 

 

Can you tell us a bit more about how you make your products?

We use a wide range of both contemporary and traditional smithing methods to originate our wares.

 

What are your most popular products and which are your own favourites?

Our favourite product to make is probably Scarf Rings, they are quite straight forward when it comes to production and they are very popular- very difficult to choose a favourite one!

 

 

If you had to pick one place in Scotland to recommend that people visit, where would it be?

The Isle of Arran is just of the west coast and is often referred to as Scotland in miniature
